It all began in 1999 between Christmas and New Year when a fence in central Otago, New Zealand found four ladies bras hanging along the road. It is unknown who did it and why the news;; but spread and soon more and more bras began to appear.
By the end of February 2000, the bra fence had reached 60! In October 2000, the number of bras had reached around 200 and in early 2006, the number of bras hanging on the fence was close to 800!
While most locals were thrilled with the fence there were some who saw it as something disgusting, and dangerous for drivers on the road. Followed by several attempts to remove, 200 bras were removed in early 2006 and other 1500 in September of that year, but this did not prevent people from adding more and more.
Later the same year an attempt was made to create the largest chain of bras in the world. The world record of 100,000 bras, not shot, but managed to collect more than $ 10,000 for charity.
