Storm Irene caused Mass evacuations on the U.S. East Coast

Mass evacuations on the U.S. East Coast because of the hurricane Irene
Although "Irene" not yet reached the U.S. east coast,  the hurricane is historic now!: Never before have so many U.S. citizensasked to leave their homes because of a storm - in New York alone, more than 300,000 people were affected . In seven states is declared  a state of emergency.

"Wait and do not hesitate," urged Barack Obama to those 65 million Americans living between North Carolina and NewEngland in the 1000 km long East Coast corridor of the hurricane "Irene". Now it was time to take the necessary precautions and evacuation orders of the authorities to follow,Obama said in a television message on his equally threatened by the hurricane in the holiday island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. To demonstrate that he is serious about his warning, the President reduced his East Coast vacation by one day and returned to Washington.
